The Los Angeles Rams won the 2nd Super Bowl in the team’s long history. Matthew Stafford threw for 3 touchdowns and 2 interceptions, and in doing so became the first QB in LA Rams history to throw a touchdown in the Super Bowl.
On the other side of the ball, Joe Burrow and the Bengals played an incredible game and they were just 1 minute and 29 seconds away from winning it all. That’s a brutal way to lose the Super Bowl after trailing for the entire first half, clawing back to take the lead on a 75-yard bomb from Joe Burrow to Tee Higgins to take a 17-13 lead.
Over the course of the past two weeks, I convinced myself this Cincinnati Bengals team with Joe Burrow was a ‘team of destiny’ and would win the Super Bowl despite being underdogs at the sportsbooks. They did cover the spread and were 90 seconds away from winning it all until the Rams came up big. After the game, Joe Burrow shared this apology to his fans and teammates which brought out a ton of responses.

I’m excited to witness the rest of Joe Burrow’s career. After the game, Burrow seemed hopeful for the future as well. He said “we’re a young team, so we’d like to think we’ll be back multiple times over the course of the next few years. We take this and let it fuel you for the rest of our career.” And I hope that’s the case but the reality is it’s a LOT more likely the Bengals and Burrow don’t make it back.
We’re leaving this era of Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers. Four of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history all competing against each other and getting shots at a title every year and I’m not so sure that will be the case in the future. The AFC has Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes, and Josh Allen right now and those three are going to make life incredibly difficult on each other for years to come.
Anyway, fans didn’t need the Joe Burrow apology. He brought a ton of joy to the city of Cincinnati and Bengals fans everywhere this season.
