Joe Thomas’ decade-long NFL career has come to an end. The 10-time Pro Bowl offensive tackle spent his entire career with the Cleveland Browns, recording 10,363 consecutive snaps, the longest streak since the NFL began recording snap counts in 1999. It’s as honorable as it is sad that Thomas was one of the best players in the league playing on the worst team in professional sports for 10 years.
Regardless of playing for the NFL’s punchline franchise, Joe Thomas knows a thing or two about a thing or two.
The 6’6” seven-time first-team All-Pro tackle played at a 310 lb. + weight for the entirety of his career. Ironically, keeping weight can be as difficult as losing it. Allow Thomas to elaborate:
You have to be heavy to play NFL OL. If you played at 260 like they did in the 80s, you’d be mashed into pieces https://t.co/e64UFnssyR

Thomas was asked by a Twitter user if he had to eat an insane amount to keep weight.
4200 calories to maintain my weight on inactive days https://t.co/J5p9m2wShD

Back when I used to practice (llloooonnngg time ago😂) I used to drink 2 big glasses of whole milk and a sleeve of thin mint Girl Scout cookies before bed just to get enough calories in the day to maintain weight. https://t.co/KGqLeARGWH

Tip for guys trying to gain weight for football. When I was in HS, I would take an entire loaf of bread, make it all into PBJ sandwiches. Then I’d eat 1/2 a sandwich every hour and wash it down with a glass of whole milk. Guaranteed weight gain.

Thomas said his current weight is 280 and he’s looking to drop down more. You and I both, brotha.
