The world’s #3 ranked golfer, Jon Rahm, struggled in his second round of the Open Championship at the Royal Liverpool Golf Course.
Rahm turned in a second round scorecard of 74 (+3) to hopefully enter the weekend at +2. The current projected cut line is +2 so if that holds, Jon Rahm will stick around but there are some great players left on the course.
The Spaniard had trouble finding a groove in Round 2. His frustrations boiled over on the 10th hole when he missed a short and makeable putt that caused Rahm to unleash a booming f-bomb on the Open Championship broadcast heard ’round the world.

That tweet from CBS Sports’ Kyle Porter blew up. Golfers/golf fans chimed in with “The F bomb is universal.” And tweets like this one:
"Oooh, really hot mic! Wow." pic.twitter.com/hy6xgHQZw9

That was a tough missed putt for Jon Rahm to swallow, to be sure. But I can’t stop myself from imagining the reaction from Rahm if he found himself in Rickie Fowler‘s shoes yesterday.
Fowler twice hit his shot into Royal Liverpool’s controversial ‘internal out of bounds.‘ Those shots cause Rickie Fowler to fall from 6th place to 48th.
There was no hit mic on Fowler at the time like there was with Jon Rahm above. But one can only imagine the fireworks we would’ve seen from Rahm if they’d switched spots. Rickie also got heckled by a fan for not investing in Leeds!
Chatted with Rickie Fowler after his round. Asked him about being heckled by a fan, something he believed was a first. “He called me a coward for not going through with my Leeds investment,” Fowler said. “That’s a first. Maybe he should put up his own money.”

Things haven’t been easy over the past two days. The nadir for Jon Rahm probably came when his drive hit a fan, leaving them bloodied, and bounced into this bunker:
🚨💀🧍♂️ Jon Rahm’s drive went left off the tee, hit a fan, then he ended up in this bunker…

Royal Liverpool is certainly challenging these golfers from start to finish.
