Lonzo Ball has reportedly reworked his unorthodox shooting form this offseason, a shot that begins on his right hip and ends up grazing his left ear before launching it. According to ESPN’s Sports Science, Lonzo’s shot angle about 50 degrees away from the “ideal” shot position.
And the shooting numbers for the majority of Lonzo’s rookie season certainly indicated kinks in his mechanics. In the opening 20+ games of his NBA career, Lonzo shot 31.3 percent from the field and 25 percent from three-point range. To his credit, it improved immensely since, shooting 43.6 percent from the field and 39.8 percent from long distance.
Lonzo had an opportunity to display a new-and-hopefully-improved jump shot in a Wednesday night preseason contest against the Warriors, a jump shot that Magic Johnson called ‘beautiful’ a few weeks back.
Midway through the first quarter, Lonzo had a wide open look at a three-pointer. He hit nothing but net, and not in the good way. Josh Hart piled it on his teammate after the game.

This is not the first time Hart has joked about his teammate’s form.

In Lonzo’s defense, he had a decent game otherwise, with seven points on 3 of 5 shooting and plus-8 in heavily reduced minutes.
But lets get a few more reactions on that jump shot, shall we…

Good shooters all have one thing in common, Lonzo: a short memory. Dust it off and keep launching them.
