Justin Turner was traded from the Toronto Blue Jays to the Seattle Mariners on Monday, which is good news for the veteran. He’ll now leave a club in the cellar of the AL East for one that’s competing for a postseason spot.

While it’s likely viewed as a positive for Turner, it turned out to be a huge negative for one sports gambler. The trade wound up providing a horrible beat for the MLB bettor.

The bettor parlayed Turner’s total bases alongside a number of other Major League props. When all was said and done, the wager boasted +4500 odds, meaning a $10 bet could turn into $450.

In this case, the bettor didn’t detail how much was wagered. He just showed the gut-wrenching final result.

Each of the bet’s other seven legs hit, needing Justin Turner to record two total bases to cash.

A first inning single got the wager halfway home, then disaster.

Turner was removed from the action when his trade was made official. His exit came in the second inning of play.

Having already had an at-bat, the bet wouldn’t be void. It fell one base shy of cashing.

Ultimate pain.

We saw a similar situation play out in Chicago this week when Christopher Morel was dealt midgame from the Cubs to the Tampa Bay Rays. Morel was also pulled from the game early with the deal going official in the middle of the action, which led to an emotional scene in the dugout.

Justin Turner finished his final game with the Toronto Blue Jays at 1-1 with an RBI single. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough for this sports bettor!
