The Kansas City Chiefs have released an official statement on a tragic shooting that occurred at the Super Bowl parade. The terrifying event happened near the end of the team’s recent celebration.

There is one confirmed death, and a number of serious injuries reported to this point.

The shooting sent shockwaves throughout the sports world, ending what was meant to be a day of congratulations in chaos. The team’s Super Bowl win over the 49ers is far in the rear view mirror this week.

Shots rang out in the midst of that celebration, resulting in a scary scene as fans scattered for cover.

A shooter has been arrested in the incident, and heroes in the crowd identified. At one point in the calamity, members attending that event were seen bravely tackling a suspected culprit, having no regard for their own safety.

A number of players have responded to the tragedy, posting online prayers.

The Chiefs have now put out an official statement.

The team posted a message their social media outlets and official website.

“We are truly saddened by the senseless act of violence that occurred outside of Union Station at the conclusion of today’s parade and rally.

Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and all of Kansas City.

We are in close communication with the Mayor’s office as well as the Kansas City Police Department.

At this time, we have confirmed that all of our players, coaches, staff and their families are safe and accounted for.

We thank the local law enforcement officers and first responders who were on-scene to assist.”
