Kevin Gausman was tossed in the third inning of a contest against the Yankees on Sunday for arguing balls and strikes. His ejection was made all the more embarrassing by a misstep in the dugout.

Gausman continued to voice his displeasure to the home plate blue while making his way to the clubhouse. That verbal attack put the Blue Jays pitcher’s safety at risk!

It simply was not Gausman’s day as he struggled with his command. Through 2.2 innings of work, he walked five batters and allowed six runs while throwing 71 pitches.

Gausman believed a few of those misses should’ve been ruled strikes. He might’ve had a point, too.

Four of the called balls appeared to clip the bottom of the strike zone. They should’ve been strikes. Kevin Gausman was unhappy as he believed they directly impacted his performance. He let the umpire know.

Gausman was pulled from the game by manager John Schneider. He exchanged words with the ump as he exited the diamond, which led to an ejection. From there, things went from bad to worse.

The pitcher continued to yell at the umpiring crew as he entered the dugout. He then tripped down a set of stairs before reaching the clubhouse.

Kevin Gausman’s day couldn’t have gone much worse. He was served with a loss as the Blue Jays fell to their AL East foes, 11-2. The pitcher fell to 2-3 on the season as Toronto dropped to just 13-14 on the season. He’ll hope to see a new umpire behind the dish in his next start.
