The talk of the SEC Spring Meetings this week is the drama between Nick Saban and Jimbo Fisher. Every single coach in attendance will be asked to give their opinion on the matter, and while some don’t want to comment, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart decided to share his honest thoughts.

Saban made headlines a couple of weeks ago when he made comments about how Texas A&M “bought every player on their team” while discussing NIL. Fisher immediately clapped back, calling the Bama head coach a “narcissist” among many other things.

Smart, meanwhile, has an interesting perspective about the situation given the fact that he has experience working with both coaches at previous stops in his career.

The 46-year-old downplayed the back-and-forth between Saban and Fisher.

“My phone started blowing up right when Jimbo’s press conference and I haven’t thought about it a day since.”

“I’m not really worried about a feud between two guys who used to sit in the same staff meetings and have similar conversations,” Smart told reporters. “At the end of the day, sometimes things get heated. You’d rather that not be in the public arena but at the end of the day things like that happen.

“You guys should be on the headphones sometimes. You’d think that was Mickey Mouse.”

The ‘Mickey Mouse’ line may be confusing to some, but Smart is simply saying much worse things are said during games each and every week.

While the media may be overblowing the situation between Fisher and Saban, at the end of the day it’s two of the game’s biggest coaches throwing around accusations and doing so completely out in the open. That’s not something we’re accustomed to seeing, especially when Saban is one of the two parties involved.
