Hugh Freeze thought Kirby Smart called a timeout during Saturday’s college football game between Auburn and Georgia. As did his daughter.

Madi Freeze mocked SEC officials at church on Sunday.

The head coach’s youngest child made sure to clap for the pastor. However, her hands came together to form a T as she clapped instead of the standard palm to palm form.

Did Kirby Smart call a timeout?

There was no bigger controversy in college football than the timeout that was not called on the Plains.

Georgia was about to get called for a delay of game penalty early in the fourth quarter. Smart appeared to signal for a timeout just moments before the clock expired.

The officials stopped the game because it looked like he called a timeout to avoid the penalty.

However, Smart seemed to deny that he was calling a timeout. He was rewarded for the denial.

Not only did the Bulldogs avoid the delay of game penalty, they were allowed to keep their timeout and got a fresh play clock. It was a bizarre sequence of events.

Upon further review, the situation might’ve been different than initially portrayed.

Rather than trying to call a timeout, Smart was actually trying to alert the officials to some tomfoolery. Auburn’s defensive back was clapping to simulate the snap, which should be a penalty.

Here is where it gets murky…

There is no doubt that Kirby Smart was legitimately clapping at first, not signaling for a timeout. But he might’ve been forced to call a timeout after the officials did not throw the flag on the Tigers.

Even if Smart did not call for a timeout like he says, which might be true, the Bulldogs still would’ve been charged with a delay of game penalty. So that does not make sense either.

It seems to me like the head referee knew Smart was correct about the simulated snap penalty that was not called on Auburn and decided not to turn right around and call a delay of game penalty on Georgia. Reset.

Hugh Freeze’s daughter is relearning how to clap.

As you could imagine, Hugh Freeze was not pleased with how the officials handled the situation.

Neither was his daughter.

Madi, the youngest of three children, went to church on Sunday morning. She posted the following video on TikTok to show how she was going to “clap” when the pastor made a good point.

As you can see, Madi Freeze did not clap. She called a timeout like Kirby Smart.
