Kirk Herbstreit is going to be a very busy man this fall.
The college football analyst was already one of the hardest working sports analysts out there. The addition of calling ‘Thursday Night Football’ for Amazon this NFL season, however, may give him the crown for the hardest working man in sports broadcasting.
Many college football fans were concerned that with Herbstreit taking the TNF gig that he may call fewer college football games or not appear on ESPN’s ‘College Gameday,’ but that doesn’t look to be the case.
According to the New York Post, Herbstreit is still set to call college games for ESPN/ABC while continuing to man the ‘College Gameday’ desk as well.
“Herbstreit, who has two years remaining on his ESPN deal, will also continue on “College GameDay” and Saturday college games. The terms of Herbstreit’s Amazon contract is not yet fully known, but sources said it is for eight figures a year.”
The 52-year-old is going to be racking up the frequent flyer miles this football season.
Herbstreit will call an NFL game on Thursday night, fly to whatever college town ‘Gameday’ is in that week for the show on Saturday morning, then he may have to hop on a flight that afternoon to go call the night game for ABC/ESPN.
He’s getting paid handsomely to talk about football for a living, but that is certainly a workload.
