Lamar Jackson Reveals His Relatable Reaction To Tyler Huntley’s Costly Fumble Against The Bengals

There aren’t many more reliable sources of schadenfreude out there like videos of heartbroken sports fans reacting to a shocking loss, and my favorite subset of that particular genre is undoubtedly the rage-filled people who take their frustrations out on their innocent television set.

I’d be lying if I said I haven’t had to replace multiple inanimate objects that have been the victim of similar outbursts, although that damage has been limited to a couple of remotes and a video game controller that bore the brunt of my anger.

Last year, Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver  Mecole Hardman Jr., bizarrely claimed he broke his TV after throwing a remote at a screen when the Chargers took the lead in a game before internet detectives discovered he’d used a picture he found online to fabricate the story.

The wideout probably could’ve afforded to replace it when you consider he’s racked up more than $8 million in earnings over the course of his career, and Lamar Jackson could definitely do the same when you considered he’d made more than $30 million before signing the massive $260 million extension he inked at the start of May.

Based on what he had to say on a recent episode of The Lounge, the QB came very close to having to do exactly that thanks to what transpired when the Ravens faced off against the Bengals in the playoffs earlier this year.

Jackson was forced to watch that contest at home thanks to the knee injury he suffered in Week 13 that sidelined him for the rest of the season, which meant Tyler Huntley was tasked with taking over under center.

Huntley wasn’t the only reason Baltimore was unable to top Cincinnati in their wild card showdown, but he did fumble on the goalline in the fourth quarter before Sam Hubbard scooped up the ball and returned it for the 98-yard touchdown that turned out to be the winning score.

Plenty of people joked about how Jackson reacted after seeing that play unfold when you consider it could’ve been viewed as a testament to his value as a QB during the ongoing contract saga that only recently came to an end.

However, based on his recounting of his actual reaction, that wasn’t exactly the case.

Here’s what he had to say:

“I’m watching the game at home. I got the TV on. I’m leaving to the bathroom—like we’re about to score—and I just hear ‘AHHHH!’

I knew our crowd wasn’t louder than Cincinnati that game. Don’t get me wrong, our fanbase is crazy at every game…but I’m just hearing ‘AHHHH!’ out of nowhere and I’m like, ‘What?’

I start rushing back to the TV and I look and they scored. I almost broke my TV. I was about to be one of those people, but then I thought I got to pay for that, so there was no point.”
