LSU Tigers head football coach Les Miles might have the reputation of being somewhat of a weird cat—after all, the dude eats grass for good luck—but what he did for a Tigers fan for this past weekend’s game against Auburn was anything but strange.
In fact, it turned out to be a move that deserves a round of applause.
Getting word that an LSU fan named Sid Ortis has been battling cancer, Miles not only invited Sid to Tiger Stadium for a critical showdown with SEC rival Auburn, but actually let the 16-year-old watch from the coaches box.

“”So, let me get this straight, in addition to seeing a game inside one of the most iconic and raucous stadiums in college football, against a top-25 team AND a career day by stud LSU running back Leonard Fournette, Sid was sitting next to coaches the ENTIRE time? Sounds like a dream day if you ask me. According to an AL.com story, Miles and Ortis have created a pretty solid bond, with the head coach initially reaching out to the kid before the Tigers’ game against Alabama last season, with Miles offering up some encouraging words, saying:
“Life is not how long you live, but how well you live it.”
The two also shared a cool moment on the field with the head coach, which was posted by LSU Board of Supervisors member, Scott Ballard’s Facebook:

Sid is going through a hell of a lot right now, but, at least for one day, things seemed to brighten up for him thanks to his favorite college football team.
