Lou Williams Says Many NBA Players Have Multiple Girlfriends, Shannon Sharpe Rips Him For ‘Dry Snitching’

When I was 17, my AAU basketball team traveled to Florida for Nationals. We got abused. Regardless, one of the great things about the national tournaments is that you can hang around the gym in between games and check out some of the best players in the land.

That is when I saw Lou Williams play for the Georgia Stars. I will never forget it. He must’ve had 35 before he started sweating. Dunking on dudes twice his size. Fast as lightning. Skilled in a way that I didn’t know existed at that level. For context: I was 17, had a few pit hairs, and could slap the backboard on a good day. I should have took up golf.

Later I would find out that the dude was Lou Williams–Georgia’s “Mr. Basketball” his junior and senior year, McDonald’s All-American, second all-time leading scorer in Georgia high school basketball history. Just months later, Williams would de-commit from UGA to enter the NBA Draft.

After winning Sixth Man of the Year in 2015, Williams is having his greatest season of his career with the Clippers, averaging a career-high 23.5 points and 5.2 assists in 32.5 minutes–scoring 40 points in a game three times.

Williams’ on-court success extends beyond the hardwood and into his love life. In Drake’s song 6 Man, the rapper declared that Lou had two girlfriends. Williams would later confirm this claim.

Williams has since broken up with girlfriend Ashley Henderson but he still is dating Rece Mitchell.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, the 31-year-old said he was far from the only NBA player who dabbled in polygamy.

“I hear about it every day,” Williams said recently. “Every single day. More players do that than you know. I was just the first person to have it mentioned on a song.”

He’s right. Case in point: Celtics rookie Jayson Tatum.
