While 800,000 federal workers are getting railroaded by the government shutdown (with half of them still working without receiving paychecks), Bill Cassidy, a Republican Senator from Louisiana, is getting at the important issues.
Cassidy used his time on the Senate floor to deliver an impassioned, six-minute speech ripping the NFL for what he called “the most blatant and consequential blown call” in the league’s history. He even brought visuals.
Senator Cassidy (R-LA) is on the floor of the Senate right now talking about how the Saints were robbed in the playoffs game against the Rams as if he is deciphering who shot Kennedy.

“Football’s more than a game,” Cassidy said passionately. “It is part of our culture, and I would say the NFL has a responsibility to the millions of fans across the country to ensure the integrity of the game and to answer these questions and perhaps a few others.”
Cassidy’s plea comes in the wake of New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell writing a harsh letter calling out Goodell earlier this week for his “silence” and Louisiana Democratic congressman Cedric Richmond suggesting the Goodell testify before Congress as to why the no-call wasn’t overturned, as it was entirely within the commissioner’s power to do so.
