Lumberjack Kate Witkowski brought glory upon her home state of Wisconsin after setting a standing chop world record at the 2025 Lumberjack World Championships in Hayward, Wisconsin.
The 65th Annual Lumberjack World Championships were held over 4 days last week in Hayward, bring out the best competition lumberjacks in the world. For anyone that has ever been to the festival they know how impressive it can be in person.
The Lumberjack World Championships is a truly international event. Competitors come to Wisconsin from around the world including Canada, Australia, Ireland, and elsewhere.
It consists of individual events and team. And this year only one competitor set a new world record.
Wisconsin Lumberjack Kate Witkowski’s Standing Chop World Record
In Heat 2 on Saturday of the Women’s Standing Chop event, Kate Witkowski went up against 5 others in a 6-woman heat and set a new world record of 21.17 seconds. It was a truly remarkable feat that was captured on Instagram (video below).
With her world record, Kate beat the rest of the heat by a whopping 0.92 seconds.
And not to be entirely outshone on the men’s side, lumberjack Cassidy Sheer made history himself. He became the first lumberjack to win a world championship in each of the Timber Sport Stages, according to WDIO. Those events include Water Sports, Pole Climb, and Chopping Dock.
