- Matt James of ‘The Bachelor’ fame is not good at golf.
- Him hitting a photographer with a shank at the Waste Management Phoenix Open proves it.

The Par 3 16th hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open is the rowdiest hole in all of golf and during the Pro-Am portion of the event, it also turns into the most dangerous hole in golf.
Various celebrities and athletes try their hand at hitting the green. Occasionally we see some quality shots, but more often than not, the real highlights come when people make a fool of themselves on the tee.
Enter Matt James of ‘The Bachelor’.
James elected to wear his best lederhosen and leave his shoes at home on Wednesday before stepping to the tee. The first swing missing the ball was embarrassing enough, but then he one-upped himself by shanking the ball and drilling a photographer less than 10 yards away.
"I think I was aiming for the wrong hole."

The shank itself is horrendous, but the cringiest part of the entire situation is him saying “I probably should’ve brought my own clubs out.”
Yeah, Matt, if you had your own clubs you definitely wouldn’t have shanked it.
Someone should’ve honestly stepped in after he whiffed on his first swing. Whatever contact he was going to make was not going to be pretty, and the result was a bruised photographer.
The fact that the photographer turned down the ball that he got hit with is also phenomenal.
‘Why the hell would I want a ball hit by some bachelor dude that nearly killed me?’
Golf fans on Twitter roasted James following his shank. Here is a look at some of the best reactions:
This embarrassing as hell, man. Put some shoes on and get off the course. 🚮 https://t.co/7cmeebOD7P

Barefoot guy who could play Carl Spackler in Caddyshack III just took a divot 8” from closest point of the ball and they let him swing again with people that close. What a world https://t.co/3PibXBJEID

I think his outfit was worse than potentially putting a photographer in the hospital https://t.co/ByGMngBsgD
