Mexicans, whether those living in the country still, or those with proud Mexican heritage that live outside the country, love their Mexico Soccer National Team. But, the team has been playing quite poorly lately. And, things came to a head on Sunday with an embarrassing loss in the CONCACAF Gold Cup to Qatar.

But, the problems have been going on for quite some time. The team did not get out of the group stage in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, only winning one out of three games and scoring just two goals. Things were already not going well, but the fact that it was the first time Mexico soccer had crashed out of the World Cup in the group stage since 1978 caused a coaching change from Gerardo Martino to Diego Cocca.

But, they were embarrassed by rivals United States just two weeks ago in the CONCACAF Nations League Semifinal, 3-0, and the USMNT really played them off the field. That caused another coaching change for the team, replacing Cocca with Jaime Lozano.

Yeah, it’s not going well. El Trí lost to lowly Qatar last night in the CONCACAF Gold Cup, despite out-shooting the Qatari’s 25-1. It is a low point for Mexico soccer.

Also, not a single soul on the planet, not even the Mexico players’ grandmothers, think they are the 14th best team in the world.

Mexico will still advance out of the group stage into the quarterfinals, but Mexico Soccer fans are not happy, to say the least.

Not good, Mexico.
