Michael Vick is officially joining the NC State golf team. The news broke on Thursday after the Wolfpack social media team posted an announcement.
“Welcome Michael Vick, our newest member of the Wolfpack,” the tweet read as the program introduced its newest member.
Now, we’ve seen former NBA star JR Smith make the jump from the basketball court to the links as a member of the NC A&T golf team. Unfortunately, this isn’t the same type of scenario.
No, the NFL quarterback hasn’t made the team. He likely wouldn’t be able to, given his exhausting two years of eligibility on the football field at Virginia Tech.
Instead, a player with the same name will suit up for the Wolfpack on the course.
While we won’t be watching the same Michael Vick that lit up NFL defenses on a weekly basis, the NC State golf addition has sparked quite the response online.
Many sports fans are posting reactions to the coincidence on social media.

“The fact he plays for the Wolfpack is icing on the cake,” one tweet read. It is a bit ironic…
“Found my new favorite golfer,” another follower said.

Surprisingly, there’s also a golfer named Happy Gilmore who recently committed to Ball State. Hopefully, America gets the matchup it deserves come postseason.
