Michigan Fans Turn On First-Year Coach Sherrone Moore After Blowout Loss To Texas

It took less than two full games for Michigan Wolverines fans to turn on first-year head coach Sherrone Moore.

Moore, who previously served as the Wolverines’ offensive coordinator, was named the head coach in January after Jim Harbaugh’s decision to return to the NFL.

But despite taking over the reins of the defending national champions, Moore’s first two games have been anything but smooth sailing.

Michigan has struggled to replace offensive stars such as JJ McCarthy and Blake Corum and its typically stout defense has shown some cracks under new coordinator Wink Martindale.

The Wolverines showed cracks in their armor in Week 1 when they struggled to pull away from visiting Fresno State. Michigan led just 13-3 entering the final quarter before pulling away for a 30-10 victory.

Those cracks were even more glaring in Week 2 as the third-ranked Texas Longhorns came to down. Texas, unsurprisingly, proved a much more formidable foe than Fresno State. The Longhorns rolled to a 31-6 lead through three quarters and coasted the rest of the way.

Texas Blowout Harris Michigan Fans Questioning Sherrone Moore’s Future

First-year starting quarterback Davis Warren looked badly out of place for Michigan. Warren is 22-of-33 for 204 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions at the time of writing. And the lone touchdown came well after the outcome was decided.

With a blowout loss on their hands and potentially a long season in front of them, Michigan fans quickly questioned whether Moore is the man for the job.

The first act of the Sherrone Moore Era was looking at this QB room and saying ‘we’re good.’ Yikes,” one fan tweeted.

“I would like someone to tell Sherrone Moore about the forward pass. It changed football,” another wrote.

And that was on the mild end of things.

Sherrone Moore was given a 15-0 team that returned 3 of the top 8 players in America And he drove them off a cliff,” wrote @DylanEveryday.

Only time will tell whether Moore has what it takes to lead the Wolverines. But he’s off to an inauspicious start.
