Internet Sleuths Rile UM Faithful In Attempt To Find Dirt On Rival, Spin Wide Web Of Alleged Wrongdoing

The Michigan-Ohio State rivalry runs deep. Arguably the best rivalry in college football, the heat has been cranked up a notch for the 118th edition.

Not only do both programs enter the season finale at 11-0, but a scandal surrounding the Wolverines has given Buckeyes ammunition to spew their disdain.

Have no fear, Big Blue Nation is here. Michigan fans are firing back some accusations of their own.

The Wolverines’ sign stealing scandal has swept through college football this year, leading to a three-game suspension of head coach Jim Harbaugh. Staffer Connor Stalions allegedly led an operation to send plants into opposing venues and video tape future foes on the UM schedule.

Fans don’t seem to think their team is the only one doing this, though. An anonymous social media account has riled the Michigan faithful up by finding alleged dirt on Ohio State’s own espionage attempts.

Two X accounts named @TonnorScalions and @MichiganNation2 have been posting conspiracy theories based on social media activity of current and former Ohio State staff members.

The deep dive tracks LinkedIn, Venmo, and more, as it looks to find some, any, proof of wrongdoing.

To be very clear, this is all speculation to this point.

Michigan account builds conspiracy theory around Ohio State scandal.

Ohio State has already seen its head coach Ryan Day investigated by the NCAA regarding his brother’s private investigation firm.

Reporters are working to put the pieces together, but we know Michigan is currently in possession of documents that could link one of the alleged investigators to Day’s younger brother, Timothy Day. The other they suspect is linked to Day’s brother, Christopher, and was also a classmate of Tim Day’s in New Hampshire. One currently runs a private investigation firm in Manchester, N.H., Day’s hometown.

Day and his family were cleared of any wrongdoing, but that hasn’t stopped conspiracists from continuing to dig.

The anonymous social media accounts began posting threads linking Day and OSU to a video company that stores practice film for college football teams. Have the Buckeyes gotten their hands on opponents’ footage?

The account claims that many of those within the company have direct ties to Ohio State athletics.

Tracking Venmo accounts, the social media sleuth also found some interesting activity between some of those OSU athletics staff members. Potential ticket transactions?

“Look into the ticket purchase history or security footage for certain games!”

There were an alarming number of “Milk” purchases, some of which seemed to align perfectly with Michigan football games – even skipping the bye week! Is “Milk” to be code for tickets?

Michigan fans have clung to the (baseless?) accusations, alerting the NCAA to take a look.

“I’m no conspiracy theorist but when this many coincidences accumulate it usually starts a fire.”

“NCAA, B1G?? Are we looking at this??”

“Sadly, they’ll turn a blind eye since it’s OSU.”

Again, this is all speculation with no direct evidence that ties the team or staff to any wrongdoing. It’s sure made for an entertaining read as The Game gets closer!
