Mike Gundy may not be the college football coach at Oklahoma State in 2026. He may not even survive the next nine weeks of the current regular season.

Fortunately, it seems as though his eldest son is going to keep his mouth shut.

Gavin Gundy is staying off of social media after he poured gasoline on a dumpster fire after a blowout loss to Oregon last weekend. He will no longer comment on college football matters… for now.

Mike Gundy might get fired.

The Cowboys finished with only three wins in 2024. They are trending toward even fewer wins in 2025.

Barring a miraculous turnaround during Big-12 play, a loss to Tulsa on Friday night put the proverbial nail in the coffin. Fans want him gone. The administration is losing patience.

A unique clause in Mike Gundy’s restructured contract could lead to a dispute on his way out but his eventual ouster feels inevitable through the first three weeks of the season.

Some of the top names to replace Gundy at Oklahoma State include Ben Arbuckle, Alex Golesh, Jon Sumrall, Ryan Silverfield and Charles Huff. I think Tre Lamb should be in the conversation. We’ll see.

Regardless of how things are going to play out, it is best for Gundy’s family to keep its mouth shut.

The 29-year-old often shared his thoughts about Oklahoma State football on social media. Not anymore!

Gavin Gundy delivered a scathing rant in defense of his father after the blowout loss to Oregon last weekend and attacked a local Stillwater-based reporter. His emotional tirade did not help the optics.

Fortunately, it seems like somebody got ahold of Gavin because he deleted his account on X.

He also showed growth after the loss to Tulsa on Friday and did not post on Instagram. Radio silence.

That is a great thing for the family. Mike Gundy does not need his son causing a scene on social media after a home loss to a two-loss team from The American.

Keep your fingers away from the keyboard, Gavin!
