During the NFL owners meetings this week, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the team’s pursuit of quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers met with Rodgers earlier this month but have yet to sign him.

According to reports, 41-year-old future Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers is in no rush to make a decision, which is obviously relevant to the Steelers given that their quarterback depth chart currently consists of Mason Rudolph and Skylar Thompson. Both of the Steelers’ starting quarterbacks last season, Justin Fields and Russell Wilson, have signed contracts elsewhere.

Mike Tomlin — whose sweat-covered facade also grabbed attention — says that he and Rodgers had a “productive” visit and that signing him is still a possibility for the team.

“He’s a free agent. As you guys know, he came to visit last Friday. We had a really productive day. He’s been in this thing a long time. I’ve been in this thing a long time. But there’s no substitute for intimacy and spending time together and getting to know one another in a non-competitive environment, so that was really good. But I don’t have any new updates in terms of where the process is. We’ll see where it leads us.”

During his 2024 season with the New York Jets — in which Gang Green went 5-12 and was the first team in the NFL to fire their head coach after canning Robert Saleh in October — Rodgers completed 63% of his passes for 3,897 yards, 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Compartively, if you combine their stats from the 2024 season, Wilson and Fields completed 64.7% of their passes for 3,588 yards, 21 touchdowns, and six interceptions en route to leading the Steelers to an AFC Wild Card berth.
