Move over Jim Mora, Herm Edwards, and Mike Gundy, there’s a new name atop the list of all-time great crash outs by coaches after a loss.
That name is none other than Cheryl Reeve, the head coach of the WNBA‘s Minnesota Lynx. Reeve absolutely lost her mind after her team’s 84-76 loss to the Phoenix Mercury in Game 3 of the WNBA semifinals.
First, Reeve had to be restrained by players as she went after referees following an injury to superstar player Napheesa Collier. Then she was seen cursing at Mercury fans while leaving the court after the game. But things were only getting started.
The missed call on Napheesa Collier led to this blow up from Cheryl Reeve.
She mentioned how Napheesa Collier played through a dislocated shoulder today and quite possibly fractured her leg on one of the final plays. #Lynx #WNBA @FOX9 pic.twitter.com/oZ3MYNyMba

Cheryl Reeve Goes On All-Time Great Postgame Press Conference Rant
When Reeve finally got the chance to sit down and talk to the media after the Game 3 loss that put her team on the brink of elimination, she didn’t hold back.
“If this is what the league wants, OK, but I want to call for a change of leadership at the league level when it comes to officiating,” Reeve said. “The officiating crew that we had tonight, for the leadership to deem those three people semifinal-playoff worthy, it’s f—ing malpractice.”
Collier suffered a leg injury when she collided with Mercury star Alyssa Thomas late in the fourth quarter. Thomas had stolen the ball from the Collier, and the two came together when attempting to get to the loose ball.
Reeve was then ejected from the game for yelling at the officials following the incident.
“We were trying to play through it, trying not to make excuses. But one of the best players in the league, she had zero free throws, and she had five fouls,” Reeve said of the officiating. “She had her shoulder pulled out and finished the game with her leg being taken out.
“I can take an L with the best of them, ” she added I don’t think we should have to play through what we did.”
Reeve said she can take the L with the best of them. But her behavior seems to indicate otherwise. At least she gave us an all-time great WNBA moment in the process.
