One MLB bettor cashed in on a $1M parlay Monday night after seeing the Phillies rally for a late inning comeback. The bet slip needed the Reds to cover a -1.5-run line while seeing the final score surpass nine runs. They also needed Philadelphia to cover a +1.5-run line while seeing the final score go over 8.5 runs.

And it did, but just barely.

The Reds wound up doing their job quite easily, taking down the Marlins 11-2 in Cincinnati. A Jonathan India grand slam, the first of his career, helped the over hit in just the fifth inning. The Reds easily covered the 1.5-run spread. No sweat for this bettor in Game 1.

But the second game on the slip might’ve caused some grey hairs.

Philadelphia fell behind 3-0 on a two-out throwing error that emptied the bases in the second inning. Not the best start when facing the defending World Series champions.

But the Phillies battled back, tallying three runs over the next two frames to even things up. Atlanta took a one-run lead in the sixth, and it would stay at 4-3 through the bottom of the eighth.

That’s when Philly turned on the heroics.

After seeing the first two batters fly out, the Phillies got a pair of runners on board. Then, down to his final strike, lefty Bryson Scott launched a three-run homer to give his team the lead for good.

This is the same Bryson Scott that’s hitting .196 on the season (worst in the Phillies lineup) and bats near the bottom of the order. But on Monday, he was the hero, as well as this bettor’s favorite player.

Philadelphia closed out the ninth inning to leave with a 6-4 win. Scott’s home run also helped the over cash in, and this parlay quickly went from a $62,000 loss to a $1M win for the Phillies bettor.
