The NBA All-Star game is right around the corner, and the NBA is trying to convince players that they have to play hard in order to keep fans interested. Earlier this week, NBA commissioner Adam Silver said he was hopeful that players will put on an exciting game for the fans after last year’s debacle.
“I’ve talked to Steph [Curry] and many of the perennial All-Stars, none of them were proud of what you saw last year,” Silver said. “I think they all recognize that the fans want to be entertained by the style of basketball they see on the floor. I’m hopeful for this year. We can get something that can be really fun and exciting for fans to watch.”

According to NBA insider Chris Haynes, the NBA and the players association is meeting with the players ahead of Sunday’s NBA All-Star game and are “highly stressing” the importance of playing hard for the fans and “for the business.”
“League sources have informed me that the league and the players union will address the all-star players on Sunday prior to the All-Star game on the importance of competing and putting on a show for the fans…with the heightened scrutiny of how the players seem uninterested on All-Star Sundays. This message is to highly urge players to put up more of a fight for the consumer and for business.”

We’re going to have to wait and see if the NBA is able to talk players into playing hard on All-Star weekend.
