While the New England Patriots offense has struggled this season, their defense has helped them stay in playoff contention.
Part of the reason why that defense has been so good this season is because the Patriots drafted a pair of cornerbacks back in April that have quickly adapted to the NFL in their rookie season.
Marcus Jones took a while to break into the lineup this year for the Patriots, but he has recently been contributing on both sides of the ball. Since Week 13, he has 4 catches for 78 yards and touchdown and a pair of interceptions, returning one of those for a touchdown as well.
While that Jones took a little while to get going, Jack Jones wasted no time becoming a key piece of this defense. Jack Jones has played 54% of the team’s defensive snaps for the season and showed off his talents early in the year.
During the team’s Week 4 matchup with the Green Bay Packers, he had a pick-6 and forced a fumble to help give the team a chance while Bailey Zappe was making his first NFL appearance. He followed that up with another interception against the Lions the next week.
Jack Jones continued to impress throughout the season before suffering an injury in Week 14 that has kept him sidelined since.
Now, according to ESPN’s Field Yates, the New England Patriots have made the surprising decision to move him and punter Jake Baily from IR to the reserve/suspended list.
Patriots CB Jack Jones and P Jake Bailey have both been moved from Reserve/Injured to Reserve/Suspended by the team.

This was a surprising move by the Patriots and you have to wonder what exactly caused it.
It’s a disappointing end to such a promising rookie season for Jones and now we’ll just have to wait and see if it has any impact on his standing with Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots in the future.
