We are witnessing something special in the Cincinnati Bengals’ run to the Super Bowl. It’s not the first we’ve seen Joe Burrow in the midst of a special season and it surely won’t be the last. Still, it feels like some might be getting a little bit carried away with their expectations for Burrow’s career.

That seems to be the case with Marcellus Wiley. Today on “Speak For Yourself”, Wiley said he believes that Burrow could “edge out” Tom Brady.

He is right about where Burrow is in his career right now compared to Brady, but it is way too early to be making predictions like this about him.

Is Joe Burrow already looking like one of the most talented QBs in football? Yes. Could he rack up Super Bowl rings and NFL records throughout his career? Sure, but can we let him win his first ring before we start comparing him to a player who has more rings than any NFL franchise?

Keep in mind, it wasn’t that long ago that analysts were having this same conversation about Patrick Mahomes. Even a couple of weeks ago, some were comparing Mahomes and Josh Allen to Tom Brady and Peyton Manning. It took one game for the narrative to change.

Joe Burrow has already shown that he has the talent to be one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL, but we should give him some time to put together more than one full successful season before he’s anointed the future GOAT.
