Tom Brady’s retirement from the NFL sent shockwaves throughout the football world. The news caused a massive response from fans, players, and media.
Not surprisingly, the NFL Network was one outlet posting its commentary on the announcement. One of the channel’s hosts might’ve taken things a step too far.
While chatting on Good Morning Football, host Shaun O’Hara went overboard with his dramatic opinion of the quarterback’s retirement, inexplicably comparing the event to a pair of historic US tragedies.
Take a listen.

“This is a huge moment, not just for Tom Brady, not just for the NFL, but for all of us. Look, people remember where they were when JFK was assassinated. You remember where you were on 9/11… I’m gonna remember this. I’m gonna remember who I’m with… You’re going to remember where you were when Tom Brady announced his official retirement.”
That’s… a little extreme. The guy didn’t pass away. He simply stepped away from a child’s game.
Yes, Brady is the GOAT, but to compare his retirement to two of the nation’s most recognized tragedies is bizarre.
Many online agreed, and they quickly posted reactions on social media.
One person wrote, “RIP Tom… You will always be remembered as the GOAT. Thoughts and prayers for his family.”
Another said, “February 1st, Tom Brady Day. Every year we celebrate the late, great Tom Brady.”
The reactions didn’t end there.
This is possibly the most corny thing I have ever seen to the point I am getting second hand embarrassment just from watching it.

Apparently, Tom Brady’s retirement is something that will go down in future US history books. Remember this moment when you’re teaching your grandkids about the most life-changing events of your generation.
