Could Freddie Kitchens land on his feet despite struggling in Cleveland last season?

Earlier this week, the NY Giants stunned much of the football world when they announced they were hiring Pats wide receivers coach Joe Judge to become the team’s head coach.

The New York Giants are finalizing a deal for New England Patriots wide receivers coach Joe Judge to become the team’s next head coach, league sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Tuesday.

Judge, 38, was the youngest of the seven known candidates mentioned for the Giants’ vacancy and has been mentored by Alabama coach Nick Saban and Patriots coach Bill Belichick. He is considered a no-nonsense guy who isn’t afraid to ruffle feathers with players if necessary.

Judge is now filling out his staff and he’s set to interview the former Browns head coach for the offensive coordinator job.

Both Kitchens and Judge spent time together coaching at Mississippi State and are close friends.

Here is Judge telling a funny story about building a swing set for Kitchens’ kids on a bye week when they were both at Miss St.

Kitchens isn’t the only person the team is talking to about the OC job. Former Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett is set to talk to the team late this week.
