Ohio State just suffered their first loss, but ESPN’s computer model still thinks they’re the top-ranked team in the nation.
On Saturday, the Buckeyes lost to the Michigan Wolverines 30-24 and will likely be knocked out of the college football playoffs.
Despite their loss, ESPN’s Football Power Index has Ohio State ranked #1 overall in their college football rankings.

Michigan fans were not happy with ESPN’s latest FPI rankings.
“ESPN’s FPI currently has Ohio State ranked #1 following their loss to Michigan. They also had Bama #1 following their home loss to Texas. I think it might be time to retire FPI as a reliable source of information.” said one fan.
“ESPN’s FPI rankings are a weekly source of entertainment,” commented another fan.
OSU has fallen to #6th overall in the weekly coaches poll.
New: Ohio State has dropped four places in the coaches poll after losing 30-24 to Michigan. Among the four one loss teams in contention for a playoff spot (Oregon, OSU, Texas, and Alabama), the Buckeyes have been ranked above two of them.

Thankfully, humans are the ones that decide the college football playoff rankings, not ESPN’s computers.
