Earlier this week, popular golf influencer Paige Spiranac announced the launch of a new VIP-only subscription website called OnlyPaige.
On her new site, Spiranac is offering golf instruction, peeks into her everyday life, live streams, Q&As, access to partner drops, and behind-the-scenes photos and videos.
While she, interestingly, did not allow comments on both her tweet as well as her Instagram post, it didn’t stop people from addressing her directly with regard to her new site.
One of those comments apparently rubbed Spiranac the wrong way and set her off so much that she shot a 3-plus minute video in response.
“No disrespect but if anybody ever needs golf instruction then they should consult their local professional! Getting golf instruction off YouTube is like going to trying to get advice about your sore foot from someone at the pub,” someone tweeted about her (but not at her).
A few hours later, Paige Spiranac responded with a tweet of her own.
“Truth is most ‘local pros’ aren’t very good and the great ones are $$$$,” she replied. “It’s the fun trend to sh-t on me but I’ve played at a high level and I’ve learned from the best. If I weren’t doing social media I would be a teaching pro. I’m giving you great instruction for $10 a month.”
When she was called out for saying most local pros aren’t very good, she backtracked a little bit.
He said any local pro is better than online instruction. That was the debate. I’ve seen a lot of terrible instruction both online and in person and most have agreed with me on that. I never said most PGA teaching professionals suck and I don’t value what they do. Come on now

You missed the point. There are good instructors and bad ones. I’ve seen a bunch who don’t have much experience in the game or have gone through proper training. I’m sure you could agree with that.

Wouldn’t you agree that someone calling themselves a teaching pro with no experience wouldn’t provide great instruction? I never said all PGA teaching professionals are trash

After being inundated with comments arguing with her take on local golf pros, Paige Spiranac decided to just create a 3 minute, 32 second video talking about it.
“I once saw a teaching pro tell a guy to keep his head down for an hour while he topped every shot. There’s good and bad. Here’s more insight into the golf instruction world,” she captioned the video.
She begins the video by saying that she pissed off a lot of people when she said local pros are not very good and that she stand by her original take.
Spiranac then explains the difference between a PGA Touring Professional and a PGA Certified Teaching Pro and how to go about finding a good golf teacher.
She then closes by saying, “I hope you guys learned something today and hopefully that is that you only want to pay $10 a month to join my subscription program where I can take your golf game to the next level with so much more content to come.”
Take that how you will.
That’s all that happens on online golf instruction. You watch someone else do it
