When Arch Manning committed to the Texas Longhorns as the No. 1 overall recruit in the 2023 class, it came with perhaps more hype and expectation than we’ve ever seen before. Now, after two years sitting behind Quinn Ewers, Manning is expected to take the keys to the Texas offense in 2025.
And lest you think the hype or expectations for Manning have died down in those two years, ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum wants to make sure everybody knows just what to expect from Manning this season.
“Arch Manning is the best college football quarterback we have seen since Tim Tebow entered the scene in 2006.”

Paul Finebaum Says Arch Manning Is The Best College Football QB Since Tim Tebow
“I think there’s a reasonably good chance that Arch Manning will be sitting on the front of New York at the Heisman ceremony,” Finebaum said on ESPN’s “Get Up.” “That’s assuming that his team does what it’s supposed to do and competes for not only the SEC but for the national championship. I really believe that they will.”
But the praise didn’t stop there. Many believe Manning will be a Heisman candidate in 2025, but Finebaum believes he’s a generational talent.
“Arch Manning is the best college football quarterback we have seen since Tim Tebow entered the scene in 2006.”
That is quite the high bar for Mr. Manning! Since Tim Tebow’s time at Florida, we’ve seen several superstar college quarterbacks, including by not limited to: Johnny Manziel, Cam Newton, and Joe Burrow. Newton and Burrow had two of the best seasons in college history at the quarterback position. Many believe that Newton’s 2010 season, when he accounted for 4,327 yards and 50 touchdowns en route to a Heisman Trophy and an Auburn national championship, is the greatest single season in college football history.
So good luck, Arch, you have some pretty big shoes to fill!
