Rickie Fowler closed one of the most exciting PGA Tour events of the season with a playoff win over Collin Morikawa and Adam Hadwin on Suday, but unfortunately, fans were unable to watch it happen live on television.
Inclement weather forced tee times to be moved on the final round of action, leading Rocket Mortgage Classic coverage to be aired mainly through streaming services.
Golf fans have been quick to post reactions of disgust on social media.
And, to some extent, they have a legitimate beef. While no one can control or predict the weather, you’d think the PGA would be able to get some of the action moved to a television broadcast.
The fact that viewers missed out on a chance to watch a three-man playoff, as well as Rickie Fowler’s return to the winner’s circle, is frustrating.
Many around the golf world posted responses of irritation online, including Justin Thomas.
I can’t get over I actually had to watch the end of that golf streamed on my phone but dammit I’m sure glad I did!!!!! So pumped for @RickieFowler right now. Lfg brother!!!!

Others felt the same way.
Pga is the only sport that consistently blows it with their coverage. We’ve got a 3 man playoff going on that can’t be streamed anywhere, and the leaders are on hole 6 on the television broadcast.

Shame that it was basically no where on television to watch it.. amazing for Ricky… but come on PGA just absolutely poor

It is an absolute joke that in the year 2023 they don’t have the full final round of a PGA Tour event on television anywhere… especially when the biggest fan favorite in Rickie Fowler is leading the tournament.

Brutal that this isn’t on live television! Way to go CBS AND PGA

A tape delay was being shown on the Golf Channel while CBS aired a rodeo show. That tape delay is a bit pointless when you already know the outcome of the tournament.
@MitchMossRadio @paulyhoward Absolutely criminal that in 2023 we can’t get live coverage of the final round of a PGA Tour event on television, especially with two of golfs biggest names pushing to win. Tape delay on golf channel and rodeo on CBS?? Shameful.

Brutal result for every golf fan who wanted to watch an exciting finish.
