Since Ben Roethlisberger’s retirement, the Pittsburgh Steelers have quickly become one of the NFL’s most quarterback needy teams. With only Mason Rudolph, Dwayne Haskins, and Josh Dobbs currently on the roster, the Steelers are likely to look from some help from outside the organization.
Many believe that help will come in the form of a trade or a free agent signing, but it looks like the Steelers would find that help elsewhere if they had the choice. It turns out the Steelers are quickly becoming infatuated with one of this year’s NFL draft prospects.
According to Nick Farabaugh of “Pittsburgh Sports Now”, the Steelers are not doing a good job of hiding their interest in Malik Willis.
The buzz around here in Mobile is that the Steelers’ love for Malik Willis is a badly kept secret

While the Steelers weren’t expected to pursue a QB in the draft because of their position in the draft, Willis is a prospect that lines up with their stated desire for their next quarterback.
The Steelers have made it clear they want a mobile QB next and Willis definitely fits that description with more than 1800 rushing yards over the last two seasons. However, there are some question marks surrounding Willis.
At Liberty, Willis didn’t exactly face the strongest competition. That will likely be an issue for some scouts after similar concerns arose about Zach Wilson last year and then he proceeded to disappoint in his rookie season.
It still seems unlikely the Steelers would be able to land Willis at pick 20. Maybe the Steelers are going to cook up a trade to make sure they get the mobile quarterback they want.
