College football fans are reacting to a recent change in bowl game naming rights. The beloved Cheez-It Bowl has become the Pop-Tarts Bowl, which will be played this December.
The matchup will feature teams from the Big XII and ACC, with the first edition airing three days after Christmas on ESPN.
The change marks the first time that Pop-Tarts has sponsored a college football bowl game. Senior Director of Marketing for Pop-Tarts, Heidi Ray, seems excited about the opportunity.
“We’re ecstatic to be the new title sponsor of the Pop-Tarts Bowl with our partners at Florida Citrus Sports and cannot wait to host Crazy Good experiences for fans and players alike in Orlando, and for those joining us from home,” Ray said about the news.
The bowl game, which is organized by Florida Citrus Sports, has been played 33 times under a variety of names. Most recently, it was the Cheez-It Bowl between 2020-2022. It’s also seen title sponsors Blockbuster, Champs Sports, and Russell Athletic, among others.
Now, though, we move into a new era, and college football fans are absolutely losing it. Many have been quick to post reactions to the change on social media.

“Wild Berry Mascot or we revolt!” one tweet read.
“Good. Pop-Tarts are more diverse and infinitely better than Cheez-Its,” another said.
“This is now my favorite bowl game,” this fan wrote. We couldn’t agree more.
The Cheez-It Bowl is gone, but it certainly won’t be forgotten.

Will we now see head coaches showered in Pop-Tarts after a big bowl win?
