If you’ve ever been hit as a batter during a baseball game, you know that it’s one of the worst fucking feelings in the world. Knowing that, Boston Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright—who beaned Toronto Blue Jays batter Chris Colabello in the head over the weekend—felt it necessary to apologize after one of his pitches got away.

Rather than just call Colabello and see how he was doing, though, Wright went fully bro, not only checking in on the Blue Jays player between innings to show serious concern, but actually following up with a bottle of liquor to say he was sorry.

Per FTW.USAToday:
“Steven decided that he was going to send over a gift,” Colabello said, moving his clothes and uniform out of the way to show a large bottle of liquor sitting underneath.
“He didn’t have to,” he said Monday as he was getting ready for the annual Patriots’ Day game. “I’m sure that’s not cheap, too.”…
Colabello said the act of a pitcher sending a gift to a player after hitting him “happens more than people know. You build relationships with people.”
This is just awesome, and shows that Steven Wright is a total dude who genuinely felt bad that he nailed an opponent in such a scary way. Bieber might wonder if it’s too late to say sorry, but when a bottle of liquor’s involved, everything seems to be cool.
