  • Rob Gronkowski recently discussed what it was like having Antonio Brown in the Bucs’ locker room.
  • Brown stormed off the field and quit on the team during the Week 17 matchup against the New York Jets.
  • “You’ve got to just focus on what you’ve got to focus on,” Gronkowski said.

During a recent interview following the Tampa Bay Bucs loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs, Bucs tight end Rob Gronkowski discussed what it was like having infamously mercurial wide receiver Antonio Brown in the locker room.

Brown, of course, left the team hanging after he stripped off his jersey and pads and stormed off the field in the middle of the third quarter during the Bucs’ week 17 game against the New York Jets, just two weeks before the playoffs started.

“When things like that happen, it’s a big story,” Gronkowski told TMZ in a new interview. “You’ve got to just focus on what you’ve got to focus on.”

“A lot of professionals in the locker room just stayed focused on what you really have to do, and that’s basically what I did too,” Gronkowski said. “That outside noise, it can affect you if you let it get to you. But if you just black it out — that’s one thing I learned in New England big time in the nine years I was there, block out the outside noise.” [via TMZ]

Gronkowski will be a free agent when the new league season begins in March, so similar to quarterback Tom Brady, his future is currently up in the air. As for Antonio Brown, despite publically lobbying to get signed by the Baltimore Ravens, he’s likely played his final snap in the NFL.

Now 32-years-old, Gronkowski remains one of the best tight ends in the National Football League, as he posted 55 catches for 802 yards and six touchdowns during the 2021-22 regular season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
