During his 20 years with the New England Patriots, Tom Brady helped bring the franchise and its fans more than they ever could have imagined, as the quarterback played a pivotal role in reversing the fortunes of the once-struggling organization by transforming the team into perennial contenders that secured six Super Bowl victories under his watch.
As a result, it was hard for anyone to have many hard feelings when he decided to trade Foxborough for Tampa Bay. Based on what we know, it’s pretty clear Patriots owner Robert Kraft wished Brady nothing but the best after learning about the QB’s plans to take his talents elsewhere, but it seems like there’s a chance that love may have been somewhat unrequited.
When Brady announced his decision to retire after 22 seasons in the NFL earlier this week, it was pretty hard to ignore the lengthy Instagram post he used to reveal the news was absent of any mentions to the franchise he spent the vast majority of his career with—and if you believe what one insider has heard, it would appear Kraft took that somewhat personally.
According to Ted Johnson, Kraft threw a “temper tantrum” over the omission, as the former Patriots linebacker said it was “an unpleasant day at the executive offices in Foxborough” after the owner saw the post.

There are plenty of indications that Bill Belichick (who Brady paid his respects to after the coach did the same on Wednesday) was the primary catalyst for the quarterback’s departure, and it sure seems like Kraft did everything in his power to convince his franchise player to stay.
As a result, it’s somewhat understandable he’d be mad about being snubbed. With that said, this is the kind of behavior you’d expect from a middle schooler who just learned they were removed from a friend’s Top 8 on Myspace as opposed to an 80-year-old billionaire.
