Here we are again. Most of the NFL is currently focusing on their offseason and that means we’re going to see a lot of speculation about big moves around the league. There are a bunch of coaching vacancies. There are GM vacancies. Plenty of teams have questions about their quarterback position.

One popular player to speculate about has been Russell Wilson. There were rumors during the season that he wanted to be traded. He denied the rumors. His head coach denied the rumors. The rumors persisted.

Now, it seems he’s in the same position he was last offseason. He isn’t demanding a trade, but he’s not going to say no if he finds a team he likes.

At least, that’s what Ian Rapoport said on The Pat McAfee Show today.

It’s easy to see why Russell Wilson would at least consider being traded this offseason. The Seattle Seahawks weren’t particularly good this season and he has had his issues with the team in the past.

He has publicly addressed the team’s O-line issues and their run-heavy approach. The Seahawks have never committed to addressing the line issue and only “let Russ cook” for a few weeks last season.

There are also a couple of tailor-made options for a Russell Wilson trade. The Denver Broncos badly need to fix the QB issues that have plagued them since Peyton Manning retired. However, the rest of their team has been built pretty well. Russ would have weapons around him and a strong defense to make a Super Bowl run with.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are another intriguing option for him. It’s another squad that could provide him with offensive weapons and a solid defense, although they have offensive line problems of their own.

Do I expect Russell Wilson to be traded this offseason? No. Would I be surprised if he was? Also no.

He might not be actively demanding a trade, but the fact that he has now sought out other options on multiple occasions tells me that Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks aren’t necessarily destined to be together forever.
