One Particular Unbelievable Stat Shows Just How Horrendous Russell Wilson Has Been For The Denver Broncos

Through the first six games, Russell Wilson’s tenure as a Denver Broncos player has been nothing short of a disaster. Denver gave up a king’s ransom to trade for the nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback in the offseason. They then turned around and gave him a gigantic five-year, $245 million contract extension shortly thereafter.

The results, however, have been less than ideal.

Wilson is averaging just 240 yards per game to go along with five touchdowns and three interceptions through six weeks. His 35.8 QBR ranks 25th in the NFL and Denver is just 2-4, putting the Broncos just a half game ahead of the Las Vegas Raiders for last place in the AFC.

It’s that last part, the 2-4 record, that truly stands out.

Other than a brief stint with Peyton Manning, which netted Denver a Lombardi Trophy, the Broncos have struggled to find an apt replacement for John Elway over the last two decades. Now, much of that is Elway’s fault, but that’s a conversation for a different day.

Denver has run through a laundry list of quarterbacks in that time. But oddly enough, almost all of them have found some semblance of early success. Except, of course, for Wilson. The one quarterback that Broncos fans figured was a surefire success has been anything but.

In fact, his record over the first six games in Denver is the worst of any of the Broncos’ recent starters.

Coincidentally, the two quarterbacks at the bottom of the list are the only two on the list to have one a Super Bowl. Admittedly, tracking quarterback wins can be a fruitless task. But it’s not a good sign for Wilson, especially when he’s been at the center of the team’s problems.

Fans didn’t wait very long to start to pile on the former Seahawks star, either.

To make it worse, Wilson is now injured as well. I wonder what Kyle Orton is up to these days…
