The Minnesota Vikings got blown out by the Los Angeles Rams in their NFC Wild Card Round game on Monday night, and quarterback Sam Darnold seems to be taking a brunt of the blame.
Despite winning 14 games in the regular season, the Minnesota Vikings were entirely outmatched against the Los Angeles Rams, as they trailed by a score of 24-3 at halftime.
While the entire Vikings team looked out of sorts, quarterback Sam Darnold was the target of most of the memes on social media during and after the game.
“Sam Darnold’s grandchildren’s quality of life will be negatively impacted by how bad he has been playing football for the past two weeks,” one football fan tweeted.
“If Sam Darnold plays any worse he’s gonna get 100m guaranteed from the Browns,” another joked, referencing Deshaun Watson.
“Darnold got his screen shaking , routes squiggly as f— , WR icons showing up as question marks , all that s—,” read another joke.
One of the main threads of jokes were about how much money Darnold has cost himself over the last two weeks, as he’s set to be a free agent this offseason.

In their 27-9 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, Darnold completed 25 of 40 passes for 245 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
To be fair to Darnold, however, the entire Vikings team looked overmatched as they were thoroughly out-coached by Sean McVay and co.
With the win over the Vikings, McVay and the Los Angeles Rams advanced to the NFC Divisional Round, where they’ll travel to Philadelphia to take on the #2 seed Eagles, who took care of the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card round.
