Scottie Scheffler may well be the best golfer on the face of the planet these days.
The evidence is on his side.
Scheffler is the No. 1-ranked golfer in the world according to the Official World Golf Rankings. He’s coming off a dominant, five-shot victory over one of the best fields in golf at The Players Championship. And, perhaps most importantly, Scheffler is the reigning Masters champion.
As the Masters champ, that means that Scheffler is the official host of 2023 champions dinner. The annual event, held the night before the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club, brings together all living Masters tournament champions who wish to attend for a dinner in honor of the previous year’s winner.
As the host, Scheffler gets to set the menu. Each year, that menu is made public and often either commended or scrutinized based on what the host opts to serve.
Take, for instance, Australian Adam Scott serving Moreton Bay Bugs, a local lobster variant. Or Tiger Woods serving cheeseburgers in 1998.

Scheffler, a 26-year-old Dallas native, appears to be more inclined to take a Tiger approach.

The Masters tweeted out the menu for Scheffler’s dinner on Wednesday and many were surprised to see the offerings.
Scheffler were serve opening courses of cheeseburger sliders (served whatever “Scottie style” is), firecracker shrimp (with sweet Thai chili and sriracha mayo), and tortilla soup. For the main course, Scheffler offers either a Texas ribeye steak or blackened redfish. Then the meal will finish with a warm chocolate chip skillet cookie served with milk and cookies ice cream for dessert.
While the menu sounds tasty, it’s all a bit Applebee’s sounding for such a distinguished event. And fans took notice.

I thought the same thing. It seems a little filling to go sliders then steak, but it's not my dinner.

You get to call the shots when you’re the world’s best golfer and the reigning Masters champ. But that doesn’t mean you’re immune to criticism.
