Former Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins plans to sign a three-year, fully guaranteed $84 million contract with the Minnesota Vikings on Thursday, sources tell ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The landmark deal will make Cousins the highest-paid quarterback in the league.
“No final decisions have been made,” Cousins’ agent, Mike McCartney, said Tuesday. “The plan is to visit Minnesota first. That’s all we can say right now.”
After the details of Cousins’ massive contract were made public, Seahawks’ Doug Baldwin went out of his way to call the former Redskins QB a hero for the way he handled his contract negotiations the past few years.

Kirk Cousins is a hero for all the young players that will follow after him. Now we need more players to bet on themselves until fully guaranteed contracts are the norm and not the exception.
It’s pretty crazy how guaranteed contracts are the norm in the MLB and the NBA but the NFL still has yet to adopt the practice. We’ll have to wait and see if the players and the NFLPA put up a fight to make guaranteed contracts the norm in the upcoming CBA negotiations in 2021.
