Three years ago, Sha’Carri Richardson had to watch the Tokyo Olympics from home after failing a drug test for cannabis just a few weeks before the start of the games, despite having qualified for the 100m dash. But, this time, she will be on her way to Paris next month for the first Olympics of her career.
The defending world champion in the 100m won the 2024 Team USA Track and Field Olympic Trials Women’s 100m Dash Finals on Saturday evening, clinching her spot in Paris.
Richardson, who survived a stumble at the start in Friday’s preliminaries, won both her semifinal and final heats on Saturday with really impressive performances.
Here is her semifinal.

Finally, this was her final. The top three finishers qualified for the Summer Olympics, and it was a really competitive field.

Yeah, she’s movin’. That’s the fastest time that any woman has run this year, and just a touch slower than the 10.65 Sha’Carri Richardson ran last year to win the World Championship.
Richardson was controversially left off the Women’s 4x100M relay team in Tokyo, as her suspension was only a month, meaning she would’ve missed the 100m prelims but been eligible in time for the relay. It’s safe to say that she will be on the relay team this year. She will also try to qualify in the 200m later this week.
That wasn’t the only exciting thing that happened to Sha’Carri Richardson on Saturday. She got to meet Snoop Dogg, and was pretty starstruck.
