Shaq opened up “Shark Week” on the Discovery Channel and despite his massive size he’s still more than a little afraid of being bitten. Which is why it was extra entertaining when a skinny shark slipped through the bars of his cage forcing him to beat a quick exit out of the water.
Shaq, who is hosting this year’s “Shark Week,” began the week by getting into the water, without a cage, to chill in the water with some smaller sharks, “helped” along the way by comedian Rob Riggle.
Having passed that test, Shaq decided to step things up for “Shaq Does Shark Week” by getting into a shark cage. This despite the fact that he says, “I’m actually terrified of sharks.”

While down in the “Shaq Cage” Riggle, being the great helper that he is, fired off a chum cannon (?!) drawing a bunch of sharks to Shaq and, whoops, one of them got inside the cage with the big man.
“There’s a shark getting in the cage! There’s a shark in the cage! We’ve got to get him out,” shouts one of the divers.

Executive producer Will Packer told the New York Post that in the 30-year history of the show that was the first time a shark had ever gotten into a cage.
Of course, after he was fine, Shaq started talking smack about how cool he was, “I survived a shark attack, you bitches!”
No way Barkley doesn’t use this against him when the NBA on TNT gets back on the air.
