Steve Tisch is a co-owner of the New York Giants, and, given the way the team has underperformed over the past couple of seasons, it’s obvious that even he knows that the franchise has become a laughingstock. While no pro sports team owner in their right mind would ever admit that publicly, Tisch did so in a roundabout way the other night while accepting an award at the March of Dimes luncheon in New York City.
While being presented an award from emcee Kenny Albert, Steve Tisch took a hilarious jab at both his own team and the NFL — with Commissioner Roger Goodell in the room, no less — joking about how bad the Giants are and how the league has no clue what pass interference is. Take a look below, via Ben Fischer of Sports Business Journal‘s Twitter account.
.@Giants co-owner Steve Tisch at the NYC March of Dimes charity lunch: “I know you are having 2nd thoughts about giving an owner of a 2-10 football team a sports leadership award. But look, you couldn’t have known, just like the NFL doesn’t know what pass interference is.”

I mean, damn Steve Tisch, tell us how you really feel about the Giants.
While this was all in good fun (I think?), it’s obvious that the losing has taken its toll on Tisch. With the G-Men currently on an eight-game losing streak and sitting at 2-10, the team’s co-owner vented a little bit more about the state of the franchise — and didn’t exactly give head coach Pat Shurmur a rousing endorsement.
Per NBC4NY’s Bruce Beck Twitter:
“It’s been a very frustrating season,” Tisch said. “At the end of the season, John Mara and I are going to get together and discuss the future. As partners, we have to be very honest with each other about where we see this team going into the 2020 season.”
He asked fans of the team to be understanding.
“I’m asking for patience. I’m being patient, which you know at times is challenging. Please be understanding and patient. I want Giants fans to feel that their voice is being heard,” he said.
The Giants are an absolute mess, and, with rookie quarterback Daniel Jones injured, will now hand the starting job back to Eli Manning. So, while Steve Tisch is frustrated and is preaching patience to the fans, it seems like it’s going to be a long time before things get any better.
