Scottie Scheffler cemented his status as the best golfer on the planet by winning the fourth major of his career with his first victory at The British Open. He did so with a bag filled with TaylorMade clubs, and the brand celebrated his achievement in a post that featured a questionable edit involving his hairline.
To say Scottie Scheffler has got it pretty good would be a bit of an understatement.
The 29-year-old has occupied the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking for more than 110 consecutive weeks while continuing to dominate the PGA Tour during a career where he’s racked up over $150 million with the help of the 17 wins he’s gotten up on the circuit he joined in 2020.
He also made it clear that the success he’s had as a golfer has taken a backseat to the personal fulfillment he gets from being a husband and a father while getting fairly existential during a press conference ahead of The Open Championship at Royal Portrush last week. However, if that cast any doubt on his motivation to win, he firmly put those concerns to rest by the time the major wrapped up on Sunday.
Scheffler headed into the weekend with a one-stroke lead and extended it to four by the time play wrapped up on Saturday. He got the fourth major victory of his career by the same margin while finishing at -17, and will now have the chance to cap off the career grand slam at the U.S. Open after checking off the third leg of that feat in Northern Ireland.
One of his sponsors also took a victory lap after he hoisted the Claret Jug for the first time, although someone decided to make a fairly unnecessary tweak that was a bit hard to ignore.

As is the case with most golfers, Scheffler has a few different sponsors who outfit him on the course.
Nike is responsible for the apparel he dons at tournaments, and while his bag is home to a couple of long irons made by Srixon and a set of Titleist Vokey wedges (as well as the Pro V1s he games), the majority of the clubs he used to win at Royal Portrush were provided by TaylorMade.
That includes his driver and fairway wood (both from the Qi10 line), a set of P7TW irons, and a TaylorMade Spider Tour X putter.
TaylorMade took some credit in an Instagram post where it made a few tweaks to the picture posted above. His caddie, Ted Scott, was Photoshopped out, the “4” was positioned to block out the Nike logo on his shirt, and whoever made those edits also decided to delete the imprint of his right nipple.
However, none of those changes stick out more than the fairly noticeable airbrushing that his hairline received, which may not be super evident without any context but is pretty hard to ignore when you take a look at the original image.

I’m not trying to Hair Shame here, as Scheffler is one of countless men who’ve had to deal with a similar issue (and one who could certainly afford to address it if he so desired). However, TaylorMade definitely didn’t do him any favors by going out of its way to include that pretty shoddy “fix.”
