New Drone Footage Of Ravaged TGL Building All But Confirms Golf League’s Debut Will Be Delayed

The upstart golf league dubbed the “TGL” was supposed to make its grand debut at the start of 2024, but those plans hit a bit of a hitch after the building it will call home was damaged in a recent storm. Now, drone footage of the venue makes it very hard to believe an event will actually be held there at any point in the near future.

In 2022, the PGA Tour announced it was planning to branch out with the launch of TGL (short for  “Tomorrow’s Golf League”), a tech-focused venture that will harness some of the most advanced simulators in existence to give golf fans the chance to see the best players on the planet show off their skills in a fairly unconventional arena.

TGL was basically the Tour’s response to LIV Golf, as it boasts a team-based format that will feature six trios (including a couple led by Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods) going head-to-head at the SoFi Center, a facility that was constructed in Palm Beach, Florida that features state-of-the-art technology capable of transforming the playing surface to mimic the conditions of the virtual courses golfers will be tackling.

Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse earlier this week when a storm in the region caused a power outage that led to the destruction of the inflatable dome that covers the SoFi Center, and photos of the damage didn’t exactly paint an optimistic picture when it came to TGL kicking off as scheduled in January 2024.

Now, we’ve been treated to some drone footage of the tattered covering and, well, it’s a bit hard to believe the SoFi Center is going to be hosting anything for a while based on how it’s currently looking.

The good news is officials say none of the technology that will make TGL possible was damaged in the collapse, but unless they have a good Massive Inflatable Dome Guy who can whip one up overnight, it’s safe to assume the debut is going to be pushed a bit.
