Tiger Woods is making his first start since the Masters in April, and just his second start since November of 2020, at this week’s PGA Championship at Southern Hills.

Woods held his pre-tournament press conference on Tuesday afternoon. While he touched on a number of topics, one question and answer stood out above the rest.

The 15-time major champion was asked if he thinks he can win this week, and he gave a confident, to-the-point answer in return.

“I feel like I can, yeah, definitely,” Woods said. “I just gotta go out there and do it, I’ve gotta do my work. It starts on Thursday, and I’ll be ready.”

Tiger Woods Says He Can Win The PGA Championship

Woods saying he believes he can win this week is of course no surprise at all. Arguably the greatest golfer to ever live isn’t going to answer that question any other way. Woods said he believed he could win this past April at the Masters as well. That didn’t happen, he finished 47th, but he’s now got another five weeks of recovery and practice time under his belt heading into this week.

In 2007, the last time the PGA Championship was held at this week’s venue of Southern Hills, Woods hoisted the Wanamaker Trophy. The course is about 500 yards longer this year compared to 15 years ago, but Woods undoubtedly has good vibes walking around this golf course.

Not only will Woods be appointment viewing this week as he always is, but his entire group will also be on Thursday and Friday as he’ll tee it up with Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy in the opening two rounds.
