ESPN’s Todd McShay Made A Shocking Claim About The Chicago Bears And Justin Fields

The Chicago Bears are a disaster of a franchise at the moment. The team hasn’t won a playoff game since 2010, and they’ve been picking near the top of the draft way too often for the once-proud franchise.

This year, they will be picking first overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. And, they have a lot of options on what to do with the pick.

That’s because the team spent an early pick on quarterback Justin Fields in the 2021 NFL Draft. Fields, the 11th overall pick out of Ohio State, has all the physical tools to be a superstar quarterback in the National Football League. The Georgia native has elite athleticism for the position, a good arm, and pretty good accuracy. His biggest knock is his processing speed as a passer, but he seemed to improve on that in his second season for the Chicago Bears.

Despite having a terrible offense around him, Fields had some great moments last season.

In 10 starts, Fields threw for 2242 yards and 17 touchdowns to go against 11 interceptions. And, he added a remarkable 1143 yards and eight scores on the ground.

So, the Bears could elect to pick a player at a different position, like Alabama’s Will Anderson or Georgia’s Jalen Carter, or they could trade back, or they could trade Fields and take Alabama quarterback Bryce Young.

ESPN NFL Draft analyst Todd McShay knows what he would do, and that’s trade Fields and build around Young.

Yeah, I disagree with McShay. I’m not the biggest Justin Fields fan in the world, but I think the Bears would be better off giving him another year, and if it doesn’t work out they will be picking at the top of next year’s draft, which I think is a better class.

Of course, it’s the Bears, so they will probably screw it up.
